Breed: English Bulldog Age: 9 months Sex: Female Weight: 35 pounds Adoption Fee: $550 Foster Location: Omaha, NE Cats: yes Kids: yes Other Dogs: yes House Trained: yes Demeanor: SUPER sweet, loving, cuddle bug Energy Level: whatever level her person’s energy level is Health Issues: previous back injury, back leg weakness Behavioral Issues: none |
Zayda came to our rescue after she injured her back in an accident (it’s not genetic) and her previous owner was unable to care for her. She has responded well to treatment and has regained her mobility and about 90% use of her back legs. She’s just like having a toddler or drunk friend around, sometimes she gets to going fast or moves suddenly and her back legs splay out or she falls over, or she falls off the stairs when trying to get up on the couch to cuddle. Her motto is ‘ I get knocked down, but I get up again. You are never gonna keep me down. ‘ Shes totally unfazed by her limitations. Based on the nature of her injury and her recovery she should continue to improve. Due to her history, she must not be allowed to jump up on or off furniture, out of vehicles, or use stairs.
In spite of her past, she is the biggest love bug you have ever known and you'd never know she had been hurt aside from a slight limp. Her goal in life, aside from napping, is to follow her human everywhere they go. You could say she is a total Velcro Dog! You do have to be careful because she will go up and down the stairs to follow you so an adoptive home with one level or a solid plan to keep her off he stairs is a must. She is still a puppy and knows nothing about everything. She will need committed owners who will help her socialize appropriately with other dogs as well as work on house training, walking on a leash, etc. She picks up on commands and more than anything wants to please her humans, so training will it be difficult. The most difficult thing to deal with is getting up and away from her when shes snuggling you on the couch.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
