Wilma is a former commercial breeding dog who is still learning about the pet life.  Most days she can be found wherever her foster family is.  If they are working, she happily curls up in a dog bed and wait until it is time to go for a walk. Unless she needs her crumb catchers rubbed.  She quickly learned to bump you with her nose until she gets the required amount of cheek squishes.   What a smart girl!  Toys are a still a foreign concept, but she has figured out bones!  She sure does love to chew.  Since this is all new to her, she has been known to sample doorstops and other household fixtures, so she'll need help learning what is appropriate to chew and what causes foster mom to say "WILLLMMMAAAAAAA!"

Our smart girl is totally potty trained.  She's working on spending time in her kennel an enjoying it.  When she is kenneled for too long she can get a bit barky, which most likely stems from her time in a commercial kennel.  She simply wants to be with her people and explore the world rather than hang out by herself.  With time, positive reinforcement, and patience, she should be able to happily snooze the day away in her kennel.

Overall, Wilma is a happy, healthy girl who is spayed, current on her vaccinations, and has had her teeth cleaned.  She does requires some simple daily maintenance to keep her looking and feeling her best.  She has a condition called Dry Eye which means her eyes don't produce enough tears.  She will need eye ointment for the rest of her life, but she doesn't mind it at all.  If you hadn't noticed yet, Wilma does have some fine lines and wrinkles.    No amount of Botox will help her, but she will need regular Wrinkle Wipedowns TM.
Dogs with roly, poly, wrinkly skin tend to get a bit stinky if they aren't cleaned regularly.   Don't worry though, Wrinkle Wipedowns TM aren't expensive, baby wipes or a wet wash cloth will do.

If you are ready to do your best Fred Flintstones impressions then Wilma is your girl.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

Apply for Wilma

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
