Adopted
Do you enjoy taking very slow walks to the mailbox and back, but no farther? Do you want to increase your couch potato time from minutes to hours, days even? Do you have a need for incessant kisses and slobber from an overly friendly dog who has a giant noggin and fat little legs? DO WE HAVE THE DOG FOR YOU!
Wilbur is as sweet as they come. What he lacks in motivation and critical thinking skills he more than makes up for with love and affection. He even carries his own love letter to you on his side, check out the picture above and look for the heart and U. Wilbur's athletic prowess got lost in the mail so he will never feel inclined to chase a ball, but he does like to chew on bones and imitate speed bumps. He loves to be with his people and dutifully follows them from room to room and shamelessly begs to be helped up on the couch. He adores car rides and getting a pup cup or two from the coffee shop.
His short legs and rotund body make the best looking if slightly less functional Bulldog. He is going to need a home with few to no stairs or a plan to help him navigate stairs in the home. He can get up and down a few steps, but it's hard when your legs are shorter than you are wide. Short leg bonus, your floors will be crumb-free as long as he is on duty!
Do you often have visitors? Wilbur will happily accept them into your home with a kiss or two thousand. Kids are a go, but he'd prefer them to be older than 5 because he just can't move fast enough to get out of the way of littles. He's never been around a cat, but his foster mom is pretty confident the mere thought of getting up to chase one sounds just horrible to him. He likes other dogs, but this is where the lack of critical thinking skills comes into play. He tends to blindly bulldoze his way into new friendships and some dogs may find that a tad offensive. Wilbur will need slow introductions on a leash and then he will be just fine.
Wilbur is crate trained. He snoozes the day away while his foster family is at work. He has also been left gated in the mudroom and did just fine. He sleeps through the night in his crate, but he just asked me to mention he'd LOVE to sleep in bed with you. He would really like it if you got a set of those dog stairs so he could get on the bed by himself because he truly cares about your lower back and the potential hernia you may receive from lifting his *ahem* portly behind and gigantic noggin on and off the bed each day.
Wilbur is still working on potty training, but with a consistent schedule, he will find success in the yard and not on your floor. He uses a doggy door in his foster home for #2 consistently and can potty on a leash as well.
Medically Wilbur is healthy, but he is your typical Bulldog. His nose is essentially a hood ornament and his airways are short therefore, he cannot tolerate high temperatures or excessive exercise at all. Air conditioning and quick potty trips during hot weather are a must! His nose wrinkle is very deep and will need to be wiped daily if not twice a day to maintain his skin. He is up to date on his vaccines, has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned, and had mild Entropion corrected on his lower eyelids.
All in all, he may not have had what it took to be a professional Bulldog dad, but he is going to be the world's best pet.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
