Truffles is a curious (read: nosy) little girl that is ALWAYS either by your side or exploring her surroundings. She is often found sticking her head into vases to see what’s in them, crawling on foster moms laptop to see what’s going on, or (her favorite pastime) snuggling up on the couch for an all-day snooze. She is happy to meet all people of all ages, and has
no qualms about begging for pets or the holdy from anyone she meets. That being said, if you become Truffles’ ‘chosen one’ (like Foster Ma has), be prepared to have a constant shadow, no matter where you go, and I mean, NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, she will be watching you. If she can’t see you, she has been known to shove her paw under a door
and whine pitifully until you let her in the room.
She has fully embraced toys, and loves to chew on a good bone! She quickly picked up what is a toy and what is not- and Foster Ma reports no destroyed shoes. However, she does sometimes pick random stuff up off the floor and try to put it on the couch-----even if said random thing is a pair of scissors Foster Ma was using while wrapping presents! She happily shares toys with other dogs and waits her turn if the favorite bone is currently in use and has shown no resource guarding tendencies when it comes to toys/food. However, she does tend to ‘resource guard’ love. This is not aggressive in any
way as Truffles is not a dominant personality, she is very submissive. However, it should be noted that when another fur baby is getting love and affection (especially if it is from her chosen one) she will quickly barge in to make sure she gets her fair share. She is very easily corrected on this behavior by other dogs, but she is still working on her manners so
her adoptive family must be willing to continue to work with her.
As far as her Mast Cell Tumor, Truffles came into the rescue with a small bump on her hip. When it was removed it was determined to be MCT. It was a very low grade (1), which was excellent news and aspiration of the nearby lymph node showed no abnormal cells. The combination of the 2 makes it likely that she the MCT would not return, but it is not
impossible. She has been fully cleared by our Vet. Her adoptive family must be willing to pay attention to her hip area (where the chance of re-occurrence is) and have any sudden lumps check by a veterinarian. Our vet also recommended 2 vet checks a year for her for the first year or two in order to check that area.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
