If you have been on the hunt for a low energy companion who has eyes only for you, Thea is your girl. While friendly with people of all ages, she definitely is the type of girl who attaches to one person and claims them as her own- often times peeking around couches, under tables, or through the glass doors to make sure she doesn't lose sight of her human if they attempt to run away. She will wait patiently for you by the bathroom door, the front door, your desk, the stairs, under the bed, or any other place she deems fit just to be close to you so she can happily sleep (and snore) the day away in close proximity to her chosen favorite human.
Thea is a lap dog, but happy just to be close to people, and has no interest in toys or other laid back dogs (other than occasionally trying to be the fun police). Thea truly will bring nothing but joy to the right forever family who can help her heal and support her as she learns to regain mobility.
Thea does currently wear diapers, and she cannot walk due to IVDD. We feel that over time, this very well may change and she will regain both control of her potty abilities and the ability to walk. She has had both chiropractic and laser treatments that have shown promise and she can now stand for longer periods of time, and shows signs of eventually being able to walk again. Her forever family must be willing to continue her treatments as needed, and work with her on balancing at home in order to continue to support her walking.
Due to her anxiety, we recommend that she not be crated, but she does well confined to an bedroom or quite area when her humans are gone. She does take a low dose of Prozac daily, as well as some herbal supplements and these have helped her feel less anxious, but she always does better if she can be with her chosen human! Thea has not been destructive or aggressive at any time while in foster care with humans, just prefers to be with them all the time!
If your looking for a hopelessly devoted companion and don't mind some diaper changes and maintaining therapies as recommended, you have absolutely found the perfect furry friend!

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
