Stitch is just the best boy. The love, entertainment, affection, and joy he will provide will make up for his handicaps. Stitch loves his people and he loves them so hard. He wants to be near his humans all the time and wants them to know how much he loves them with lots of kisses and ear & nose nibbles. One of Stitch's favorite snacks is "crunchy water." He follows his people into the kitchen and gives big, pitiful puppy dog eyes until they give him an ice cube. He requests his forever home be able to accommodate his addiction and have constant supply of ice available.
Stitch does resource guard humans and other things he likes at times. He has a foster brother who has a very dominant personality and doesn't put up with feeling as though another dog is challenging him. Stitch can also be quite dominant when he feels challenged, so he would do best with submissive/easy going fur siblings. He would also be fine as an only dog.
ABOUT STITCH'S SPECIAL NEEDS
Stitch had IVDD surgery in October. He has had Eastern Medicine Treatments since coming into rescue and has gained more control of his bodily functions. He may continue to improve if his adoptive family keeps his treatments going. Most of the time he goes #2 outside by taking himself out the doggie door. Sometimes he has "poopcidents" in the house, so his adoptive family should be aware this will happen. Stitch dribbles urine, so he wears a belly band while in the house. He does fine in a crate, but he does not care for it at all. Stitch loves sleeping with his humans, so he wears a full diaper at night to keep the bed clean and dry.
If you are looking for a handsome boy as a shadow, and you have a bit of extra love to provide a handicapable boy, this may just be the dog for you! If you are not familiar with IVDD, please do some research before filling out an application for him. Since IVDD is a pre-existing condition, it is not something that could be covered by insurance. There is also risk of additional episodes, although there are steps that can be taken to help minimize this.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

-We are no longer accepting applications for Stitch-
We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
