Hi, I’m Poppy!! I’m the sweetest girl! I’ve spent most of my life in a commercial breeding facility and was surrendered to Lucky Bulldogs Rescue in hopes I would find a loving home after being retired from mom duties. As a commercial breeding dog, I didn’t have the socialization, toys, treats, and affection that comes with being a pet from the get-go. Foster Ma and my Foster Dog Brothers have been showing me the ropes. So far, I am learning to love the pet life! I love chewing on bones and snuggling with my foster mom any chance I get. I love the couch, but I have short legs so getting up on it can be a challenge for me. If you bought those little pet stairs, I’d be forever grateful! I like to follow my foster human everywhere she goes, but when I get bored, I will go lay on my comfy pillow and will take a nice long snooze. Naps and snuggles are my favorite. Did I mention I've never met a stranger? I love all the scratches from new friends and love giving them kisses.
I am for the most part potty trained. I won’t let you know when I need to go potty, so it’s best if I go out every couple hours if I am not in my crate. With time and patience, I should be able to learn a cue for going out. I do a great job going outside on a leash and like to go for short walks. Little legs can’t go very far ya’ know! Sometimes Foster Ma will open the door to go out and it scares me a little bit. There aren’t doors in a commercial breeding facility so how am I supposed to know it’s ok?? Once I am outside, I am happy and will usually potty right away. Again, time and patience will allow me to become the perfect puppy princess I was meant to be.
Medically I am in good shape. I’ve been spayed, heartworm tested, microchipped, and I am up to date on my vaccinations. I had to have Entropion Surgery and dental extractions, but the vet said I’m healed and doing well. I have a nose wrinkle that just needs wiped out a couple times a week.
I am really working on sharing toys with my foster brothers, but it isn’t my favorite. When you come from nothing and suddenly have everything it can be a bit overwhelming. Eventually, I will come to accept that my toys and people are here to stay, but until then I’m going to need…time and patience. I am still learning and I hope my new family will continue to show me what the perfect puppy princess pet life is all about.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
