Adopted
Name: Judy (Big Booty Judy, Judy Jetson, JudyJudes)
Breed: English Bulldog
Age: estimated to be four years old.
Sex: Female
Weight: currently 75.2 and still on my health journey to 50 pounds.
Adoption Fee: $450
Foster Location: Ankeny, Iowa
Cats: Eww no-I lived with them in foster care and my behavior has improved a LOT but I still want to eat them when I’m feeling spicy. Trust me, I’m all you’ll need!
Kids: 10 years old and up please. I have never been around anyone younger for an extended period of time and I will need slow supervised introductions because fast movements and loud noises may scare me or cause my prey drive to kick in.
Other Dogs: I’m a Queen and prefer to be your one and only but I’m mostly ok with larger dogs after slow introductions. I can be a salty B if you’re near my food or my chew toys. No small dogs-see above about cats.
House Trained: Yes-I’ve never soiled my palace or kennel and I’m starting to signal with a bell.
Demeanor: very mellow unless I see a cat/small dog. I can also be a bit aggressive with dogs I don’t know. I am very sweet with people, huge fan of having my belly rubbed or an ear massage. I will need owners who know how to be in charge. I’m a lot to love and need firm guidance at times. I’m super smart, learned my new name quickly and I understand “kennel” “go to your bed”, “outside?” and of course “want a treato?” I’m still learning how to be a pet.
Energy Level: Pretty low but I can move like a bullet train at supper time or if I see a fluffy cat snack. I’m not much for walks but mom tries every day. You should have seen how excited she was the day we went around the block-it was embarrassing! I love being outside in the sunshine on warm pavement or on lovely soft grass. I love car rides too-I don’t care if we have a destination, I’ll be happy just being with you.
Health Issues: I'll need a esthetician, manicurist and snack assistant. Actually I just need ongoing help getting my weight down and trying to move more. I have stress alopecia but melatonin is helping! Keep me on high quality food, please! I’m extra and I like extra. Mom does what she calls “daily spa morning” after I eat breakfast. She wipes my eyes, nose and cleans my wrinkles-I LOVE IT!
Behavioral Issues: strong prey drive with anything smaller than me. I’m a bit of a resource guarder-meals, chews and people. Hey-I like what I like! I’ve never had a potty accident, I love my kennel and I love being groomed. If you stop petting or belly rubs, I’ll put my paw up or nibble at you-mom tries not to encourage those behaviors but she thinks I’m SO DARN CUTE!

My foster peeps are working this glow-up game STRONG! I came to them with double ear infections, double eye infection, bad skin, a sore tooth & a lot of insecurities. I’m happiest in a loving, quiet (excluding foster dad’s love of loud metal music) and structured home. I’ve learned very quick that even though I’m a DIVA, I am not the boss. I haven’t learned how to play yet, my foster sister Izzy tries but she confuses me! I do love a soft bed, a good Nylabone or large beef bone and being close to you. My foster mom is a bit of a hippy and has tried to get me to eat green beans, apple and carrots for snacks. I take them from her to be nice but drop them when she’s not looking. It’s been great here but this curvalicious babe is ready to move on to a forever home and be adored and spoiled.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
