“Hello friends, I am Greta, the nearly three-year-old petite Blue Sable French Bulldog who was surrendered to rescue because I was allergic to my cat siblings.  Can you believe it, a dog allergic to cats?!”

“Hey Greta, that’s not the only reason.”

“Pardon moi?”

“Yeah, you were kinda bossy and mean to strangers too.”

“Exsqueeze me?”

Foster Ma here, let me give you the big picture that is Greta.  She’s a beautiful little dog, but beauty is only skin deep.  On the inside, Greta is a little less pretty.  Don’t worry, you are going to love her, I promise!  She's an awesome little dog, who loves her toys and people, she just has more to her story than most dogs.   Physically: she has a heart defect that was corrected with surgery as a puppy.  She is just fine now and you'd never know she had an issue.  She will need lifetime twice a day medication to maintain her blood pressure or that will be the end of her story.  Her pills currently cost about $8.00 for 30 pills, so it’s not going to break the bank that’s for sure.  She also has luxating patellas on both hind legs.  They are not bad enough to need surgery and as of now she is just fine.   Miss Thang also has a pretty comprehensive list of known allergies including: corn, beef, oat, pea, peanut, pork, rice, and turkey as well as most of the outdoors and cats!  She does just fine if she sticks to her kibble and treats, so people food is a hard No.  Lastly, she will sometimes vurp up her water if she drinks too fast.  Mentally: It is Greta’s world, and we just live in it.  She feels, no, she knows, she the boss of the universe.  Because of this, she will absolutely need to live with an owner who is not afraid to establish firm leadership.  She can and will fun police other dogs which has led to some hurt feelings and love bites from her foster siblings.  She will need to live with submissive and similarly sized dogs who have no qualms about Greta ruling their world.  She could happily be an only dog too, as siblings are not necessary for her to rule.  When Greta first came to the rescue she exhibited resource guarding of her people.  With time and a lot of practice, she has successfully integrated into society as a fully functioning dog.  As she transitions to her forever home, she will need consistency and routine to maintain her manners.

Have I scared you off yet?  No?  Oh good!  Greta really is a sweet little dog who wants to be a good girl, she just needs to find her place in this world.  She is 100% potty trained and kennel trained.  She spends her days chewing on a ball or snoozing while her foster fam is at work.  At night she likes to sleep with one of the humans but will settle for the kennel if told to.  She loves, loves, loves going on walks and can easily do a mile without losing steam.  Greta has never met a ball she didn’t love.  There are currently six Chukit brand balls rolling around her foster home’s living room.  She usually has one in her mouth and is batting at another with her paws.  Did she learn that from her former cat siblings?  Maybe!  She is affectionate, but not overly so.  She prefers a more subdued form of love in that she will lay next to you on the couch and snuggle.  She does give the best snorty kisses when we first get home from work.  She is up to date on vaccinations and spayed.  She will come with some food and meds to get you started.  Greta would do well in an apartment as she's a quiet dog, she's little, and loves going for walks.

Let’s summarize, shall we?  Potty trained, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, kennel trained, cute as heck, and  her medical issues are firmly under control with inexpensive meds.  If she seems like the perfect fit for you, apply today!

You can't be gorgeous ALL the time.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted.  Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above.  Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications.  All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes.  Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters.  Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

Apply for Greta

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
