Sex: F
Weight: 10.5 lbs
Adoption Fee: $500
Foster Location: Ashland, NE
Cats: Unknown, but probably
Kids: Yes!
Other Dogs: Yes!
House Trained: For the most part
Demeanor: Curious, snuggly, playful
Energy Level: Puppy Energy
Health Issues: None
Behavioral Issues: None
Bertie will come with a spay requirement in her contract to be completed within 30 days of her turning 6 months old.
Bertie is your typical playful, energetic, and snuggly puppy! She goes from 0-10 in .02 seconds flat and right back down to zero without skipping a beat. With puppy breath on point and the attitude of a toddler who got the wrong-colored plate with her crustless grilled cheese, Bertie will warm the hearts of everyone she meets while simultaneously making you tilt your head in confusion about how or where she gets her sassitude (probably from her Frenchie foster siblings if we had to guess). Her favorite pastimes include pouncing on sleeping children, grabbing ponytails and trying to drag her human into a comfy bed, playing with her foster siblings, biting toes, stealing flip flops, napping, and turning over every food bowl in the house to let her humans know they are starving her.
While she is a puppy with big dog energy sometimes, she also enjoys a good nap on the lap of Foster Dad. Oftentimes, she can be found sitting on his lap wrapped in a blanket while they handle work business and every morning she prances her big feet into foster dad’s office and gets ready for the workday. Bone? Check. Fluffy White Paw toy? Check. Dads’ important papers for an afternoon snack if he leaves them unattended on the floor? Check. She takes redirection easily and is quickly learning what is and is not a toy. However, flip flops do tend to be a guilty pleasure for her, so humans beware. She munches on those like Foster Mom and French fries.
Bertie has no known health issues and is doing well with potty training. She has had very few accidents and understands what she is supposed to do when she goes outside. Regular potty breaks followed by a small treat will make her a pro in no time! Her foster family has been working on crate training and overall, she does well. However, if she can hear her humans but not see them, she does tend to cry while crated but settles down for a snooze after a bit of a tantrum. Her foster family has had success crating her in the room with them and she sleeps soundly through the night.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.

We will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top two applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
