Hi! I’m Ozzie, a 4-month-old Boston Terrier. I was released from a commercial breeding facility and now I spend my days learning how to be the best family pet ever.
Every day is the best day ever. I am pretty new to the world, so I spend my days romping around the house and exploring every inch of my surroundings. I have LOTS of energy and I get excited about walks around the neighborhood where I have become BFFs with little dogs and big dogs, older pups and younger pups, too. My foster family is so proud of what a friendly dog I am but I know that my energy level might be a bit much for older dogs. Sometimes cars and trucks are really loud and they scare me a bit. I love chewing on toy bones and rope toys and working hard to get the Cheerios from my Kong. I’m also working hard on potty training. Although I haven’t had any accidents in my crate at night or in my pen while my foster family is gone, I sometimes have accidents during the day. I hope my forever family will work with me and give me plenty of opportunities to go outside for potty. As much as I love to play (and I do, I really, really do!!!), I also love to snuggle up to other dogs and to people. One of my favorite things is to climb into my hooman’s lap and fall asleep or to rest my head on her shoulder and snooze.
Here's what my foster mom says about me:
Ozzie is PERFECT. He is the most perfect pup we’ve ever opened our home to. He is a classic puppy with tons of energy and an insatiable curiosity, but he is also funny, obedient, affectionate, and adorable. He is quite a people’s puppy – he wants to please his people and he will be so easy to train. He loves being around dogs. While we think he’d be awesome as a family’s only dog, we think he’d thrive in a home with at least one other dog to play with him, teach him proper manners, and to model good behavior in a home. Ozzie would do great in any kind of home, but a yard or a nearby park is essential so that he can burn some energy. Because of Ozzie’s playful disposition, he will flourish in a home with dog-savvy kids. He is quite young and may be too energetic for babies, toddlers, and older adults who could trip over him. Ozzie is full of personality and he has charmed our older Frenchie girls, both of whom love to play and snuggle with him. Ozzie is in great health. He came into rescue with giardia and completed a course of antibiotics. He has experienced some diarrhea recently, but that’s likely from him chewing on mulch, grass, and twigs. Please be prepared for the patience and ongoing care requirements that are needed for such a young dog. We adore Ozzie and we know you’ll fall in love with him, too.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
